Alice's first husband was William Walstein Failing, whom she married in Essex, Ontario, Canada, on June 19, 1900. They had three children:

1) Clifton Atwood Failing (1901-1903);
2) Fred C. Failing (1904-1972), who married Carrie Bonner;
3) Kendrick Failing, Sr. (1906-1990), who married Mary _______.

They lived in Caro, Tuscola County, Michigan, where Alice had been raised.

Alice and William divorced sometime before 1910.

Alice married Alfred Jacob Boergert, son of John C. Boergert and Mary Schwartz, in Caro, Tuscola County, Michigan on August 6, 1913. They had two children:

1) Ellen Boergert (1914-?), who married Neil Barnett;
2) Alfred Ross "Ross" Boergert (1917-1967), whose first wife was Evelyn Albertina Kirstowsky, and whose second wife was Lois J. Stilson.

Alice and William lived in Saginaw, Michigan.

Obituary:

Mrs. Alice Boergert, 83, died Thursday at St. Luke's Hospital in Saginaw after a 10-week illness. Funeral services were held October 29 [1962] at Huston Funeral Home. Burial was in Caro Cemetery. Dr. Henry W. Fischer, retired minister of First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw officiated. She was born July 18, 1879 in Caro and always lived here until 1913 when she moved to Saginaw. She lived there until her death. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Atwood. She married Walstein Failing in 1900. In August of 1913 she married Alfred J. Boergert, who survives her. She also leaves three sons: Fred C. Failing, of Green Bay, Wis.; Ken G. Failing of Flint; Ross A. Boergert, of Saginaw; and a daughter, Mrs. Neil Barnett of Saginaw. One son, Clifton, predeceased her. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Myers, of Caro; two brothers, Theron Atwood of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Ellett Atwood, of Caro; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
