Nicholas Dascher was born on January 23, 1882 in the Town of Montana, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, to George and Katherine (Schneider) Dascher. He was raised in a large family and only educated through the third grade. As a young man he worked on area farms. He married Anna Buchli on November 27, 1912. They later relocated to Eau Claire. They had four children, two boys and two girls; one son died on his second day of life. Anna died after gall bladder surgery and Nicholas never remarried. After his children were raised, he lived in a small house that was next to his daughter's home. He died on December 1, 1964, at the age of 81. He was buried by his wife in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
