FARMER
D. H. (Dill) Farmer, 73, died Thursday at 2:30 a.m. at a local hospital after a year's illness.
A son of the late Isaac L. and Martha Walker Farmer, he was born in Greer, S.C., but had lived most of his life in Stephens County.
He was a veteran of World War I and an instructor of wireless operations at Georgia Tech and Yale University. Later he was with several railroads for more than 20 years. Before his retirement several years ago he was in the automobile business here.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Shelley Lashley Farmer; a son, Freddy of Gainesville, Fla; a grandson, Gregg Farmer, also of Gainesville; a sister, Mrs. John Sosebee of Toccoa; four brothers, E. L. Farmer, R. P. Farmer, Clyde Farmer and Bernice Farmer, all of Toccoa.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. from Acree-Davis Funeral Home by Dr. C. L. Leopard. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ike Farmer, J. P. Farmer, Ralph Farmer, Paul Farmer, Sam Sosebee, Joe Gulledge, and Roy Farmer.
Acree-Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
