Fred E Grant, 85, of 3613 Hickory Lane, died at 8:25 P.M. Sunday, Jan 2, 2000, in St Elizabeth Medical Center after failing in health for sometime. He was born on Sept 21, 1914, in Chesterville, Illinois and had resided in Lafayette since 1943, coming from Mattoon, Illinois. He worked at Ross Gear-TRW for 38 1/2 years in the tool grinding department, retiring in 1979. On April 24, 1938, he married Myrtle G Sharp in Mattoon. She survives. Mr Grant was a life member of Moose Lodge 1529 and a member of Legion of the Moose. Surviving with his wife are five sons, Teddy J Grant of West Lafayette, Danny A Grant of Clarks Hill, Jack R Grant of Anderson, Gary K Grant of Indianapolis, and Tommy D Grant of Fairfield, California, a daughter, Carole S McGlothlin of West Lafayette; and a sister Viola Burch of Arcola, Illinois.
Friends may call at Hippensteel Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with Moose Lodge service at 7 a.m. Service 1 p.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev James Chase officiating. Entombment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Surviving are 20 grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Memorial to American Heat Association.
