John Mahaney was born May 25, 1842, and died November 15, 1911, general debility being the cause of his death. He was born in Fort Covington, Franklin Co., N. Y., and was married to Mary Ann Ostrander Nov. 25, 1868. To them were born five children, namely, John Henry, deceased; Mary Elizabeth McFarlane, at home; Elsie Margaret Patterson, who resides near Lodi; Wilbert Thomas, deceased; Archie Eugene, of West Point, who resides on the old home farm.

He leaves his wife, and three children, seven grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters to mourn his death together with a large circle of relatives and friends. He was a loving husband and father.

He will be buried from the Catholic church, of which he had been a faithful member. Services at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning.
