MAMIE GRIMES
Mamie Gertrude Grimes, daughter of Harvey W. and Arena Almack, was born May 31, 1878, near Jericho, Mohawk Valley, Ohio and passed away at the Yocom hospital in Chariton March 15, 1965, at the age of 86 years, nine months and 15 days.
She came with her parents to Newbern, Iowa at a very early age, where she lived until the early nineteen hundreds. She taught school for several years. As a young girl she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was a member of the Methodist church of Newbern.
She was united in marriage to Ezra H. Grimes on September 8, 1909 and moved to Monroe county where they were engaged in farming until October, 1963, at which time they moved to Chariton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra, her parents, two sisters, Nellie and Lora, and three brothers, Earl, Roll and Harvey.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sisters, Mrs. Ida Barger of Chariton, Mrs. Ethel Bollock of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Edna Cook of Des Moines, a number of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 1965, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. The Rev. J. E. Hook and the Rev. V. E. Shickell officiated at the services. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
