Mrs. Foster was born in Vermont, May 19, 1809, At Lockport N.Y. in 1829 she was married to
Joseph P. Foster, her maiden name being Thurston. Seven children were born as a result of the
union, six of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. J. A. Swan, of this city, A. B. Foster, of Oregon, a former resident of this county, Edwin Foster, of California, Mrs. Lucy Arnold, of Oregon, Mrs. Ellen Bostick, of Port Huron. She also leaves three brothers living near Romeo. A son, Jubal A., who served five terms as deputy clerk of Calaveras county, Cal., died in 1886.
Her husband died in 1889, and his remains were interred in Grout cemetery. Mrs. Foster has
resided with her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Swan, at Gladwin since 1881. They moved from New York
state to Romeo in 1842, and resided near there nearly 40 years. At that time railroads were rather scarce, there being none running to Romeo, and it took from two to three days to make the trip from Detroit to Romeo.
Funeral services were held at her late residence Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. J. S. DeLong, and the remains were laid by the side of those of her late husband in Grout cemetery.
