Barbara Alice Atwood, daughter of Palmer and Delores (Mullenix) Atwood, was born July 17, 1957 in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended South Sioux Elementary School and Patrick Henry Junior High School. Barbara graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975. She then worked at John Morrell and Company for seven years.
Barbara established BA Cleaning Service in 1984 and cleaned homes and small businesses for many years. She was diagnosed with cancer on September 11, 2001.
Barbara was a member of John M. Bliss VFW Post #628 Auxiliary. She was very active in softball as a player and coach for 35 years. She loved gardening, writing and reading. She enjoyed organizing parties and events. Barbara was a very caring person. Her family was very important to her and she loved her nieces and nephews very much.
Grateful for having shared her life are two sisters, Bertha Clark, Elkton, SD, Bev Lee and her husband, Rodger, Elk Point, SD; one brother, Ray "Bud" Atwood and his wife, Vicky, Sioux Falls, SD; seven nephews; five nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Bonnie Atwood.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Church of the Holy Apostles following the committal service.
