The Wakarusa Tribune - 25 September 1947: Enos Metzler, 75, one of the communities well known retired farmers died at his home here at 4:30 p.m. last Thursday, having been in ill health for the past six years. He was born in Olive township near Wakarusa September 30, 1871, the son of the Rev. John Metzler and Elizabeth (Stauffer) Metzler. His marriage to Edna Bickel took place in 1895. When a young man, Mr. Metzler chose the occupation of a farmer to be his life's work, this he followed until retirement, when he moved to his home in Wakarusa, five years ago. Surviving are the widow; 4 sons, Walter and Elmer, both of Wakarusa, Maynard of Elkhart, and Paul, Union City, Mich.; and one daughter, Mrs. Retha Duckwall, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and a brother, the Rev. Christian Metzler, and a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Miller, both of Wakarusa. Private funeral services were held at the family residence at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, in charge of the Rev. Paul Steiner. Burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
