Jacob Metzler, 73, died at 10 am Sunday at his home a mile and a half north of Wakarusa. He had been confined to the house for three years.

The son of the late Rev John and Elizabeth Metzler, he was born Jan 27, 1861, in Wayne county, Ohio.

He married Fannie Hoke of near Goshen on Feb 1888. They lived on their present farm 43 years.

Mr Metzler was a member of the Brethren church.

Surviving beside the wife are the following children: Irvin Metzler of Red Stone, Mont, Charles of Elkhart, Frank of Chicago, Vernon of South Bend, Mrs Albert (Mabel) Gordon of Orlando, Fla, who was here to visit and Mrs Joseph (Ethel) Robinson of Wakarusa.

A daughter, Mrs. Alma Herr, was killed in an automobile accident in 1930.

There are 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Jacob Miller of Wakarusa; and two brothers, the Rev Christ Metzler and Enos Metzler both of Wakarusa.

The funeral was held Tuesday with a service at the home at 2 pm and another at the Olive Mennonite church at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev Andrew Yontz of Goshen and the Rev David Miller of Wakarusa. Burial in Olive cemetery.
