MASSMAN

Nellie Rosalind Massman, one of the twins of Everett and Florence White Stone, was born April 1, 1903, in Lucas County, Iowa, five miles east of Chariton on the Old Blue Grass road. She passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 1985 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 2 days. Most of her life was spent in Lucas County, Iowa, except nine years spent in Des Moines.

When a young girl she accepted Christ as her Saviour during a revival meeting at the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, and became a member of that church, where she faithfully continued during all her years.

She graduated from Chariton High School in the class of 1922, and soon went to work for a prominent attorney, Joe Kridelbaugh, doing stenographer and abstract of real estate work for many years, before opening up her own abstract office.

On September 19, 1924, she was united in marriage to John Massman and to his union two children were born, John Massman, Jr., of San Diego, California, and Maxine Massman Myers Cole, now deceased.

Those preceding her in death were her husband, John; her daughter, Maxine; her parents; one sister, Mable Atwell and husband, Jim; three brothers, Edmond and wife, Mary Belle; Thomas and wife, Marguerite; and her twin brother, Donald Stone.

Those surviving are her son, John Massman, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou; their three children, John Christopher Massman, Peter Kurt Massman and wife, Elizabeths; Alyson Ann Kay and husband, Seymour, all of San Diego, California.

Also her daughter, Maxine's three children, Marjorie Tracy and husband, Michael of Adel, Iowa; Michael Myers and wife, Linda; and Mark Myers, of Urbandale, Iowa; also 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends.

Nellie was a kind, loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She loved and appreciated her family members very much and all of her relatives, kind neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 1985 at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Roberts conducting. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
