CLAYTON DONALD STONE
Clayton Donald Stone, son of the late Malcome Everett and Florence White Stone, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, April 1, 1903 and passed away at his farm home near Chariton last Saturday, May 5, 1956, at 10:20 a.m.
He was operated on at Iowa City for a brain tumor on Sept. 22, 1955. During his long illness he never complained.
Donald graduated from the Chariton high school in 1921. He later engaged in farming with his father. Almost his entire life was spent in farming.
He was married to Etha Ragan on Dec. 24, 1934. To this union two daughters were born: Marilyn, of Des Moines and Sharon, at home.
Donald became a member of the Chariton Christian church on Dec. 4, 1911. He served as a Deacon in the church for many years.
He is survived by his widow and two daughters; his twin sister, Mrs. Nellie Massman of Des Moines; his sister, Mrs. Mable Atwell of Davenport; two brothers, Edmond Stone and Thomas Stone, both of Chariton. There are also 10 nieces and nephews and 28 grand-nieces and nephews surviving.
Funeral services were held at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home Monday, May 7, 1956 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. J. T. Bloom and the Rev. C. P. Shepard officiating. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
