Opal B. Stringer
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Opal B. Stringer, 81, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the funeral home.
Ms. Stringer died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Mayland to the late George T. and Maggie Gist Bryant.
Ms. Stringer spent her life as a homemaker and seamstress working in the manufacturing industry at Workwear Corporation and Acme Boot Company. She was a member of Colonial View Baptist Church.
Her family includes a daughter, Vickie Stringer of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Freddy S. and Joann Stringer of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Shelby Logan Ragland and Harold Williams; and one great-grandchild, Megan Williams.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James William (Billy) Stringer; three sisters, Geneva Hajny, Helen Houston and Georgia Cooper; and four brothers, U.J., Robert, Samuel H. and William J. Bryant.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Opal and Billy were married on March 30 1948.

West Cemetery - Opal is buried on the right side of the cemetery in the 12th row plot number 11 going left to right.
