Wiert Asche
Wiert W. Asche, 85, died at the home of his son, Ben, southeast of Garner. He had been a resident of this community for the past 33 years, moving to the town of Kanawha in 1938.
Wiert Asche was born April 15, 1861 at Belsumer Verloat near Ostfriesland, Germany. He migrated to Illinois with his parents when 21 years of age. He was married there to Miss Bertha Mudder, who died after they were married 7 years. He later married Miss Maria Heyerhorst at Forreston, Ill. They moved to Iowa in 1913 making their home on a farm two miles south and one mile west of Kanawha.
He was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church.
He is survived by 11 children, Wiert, Mrs. Tena Hayenga, Tobbe, Mrs. Martha Moogk, Joe, Louis, Claus, Ben, Fred, and Mrs. Freida TerHark; 41 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His wife, five children and four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
