J. C. Kirkland, 68, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Gansville community, died June 16 [sic 17], 1943 at 2 a.m., following an illness of several years duration.

Funeral services were conducted at the Cypress Creek Church on June 18, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Rufus Kitchingham officiating.

Mr. Kirkland was a member of the Gansville Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Linnie Kirkland, one son, Goodridge Kirkland, of Jonesboro, and two daughters, WAAC Aux. Leoval Roberson of Victoria, Texas, and Mrs. Rawson Taylor of Gansville.

Attending the funeral services from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Martin, Mrs. J. M. Jackson, Miss Prentice Jackson, Mr. Lawson McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Machen, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Taylor, and Oswald Martin.
