ROCK VALLEY, Iowa -- Arthur Raymond Bauder, 91, of Rock Valleydied Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

Services will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church inrural Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today,with the family present at 5:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 5p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Art was born Sept. 1, 1910, on the Bauder farm in Garfield Township, Sioux County, Iowa, the son of John and Amelia (Pfarrer) Bauder. He attended rural school at Garfield 7 through the eighth grade. In 1933, he completed Aviation Navigation School in Des Moines.

Art married Esther Gayer on Feb. 25, 1945, at Peace LutheranChurch, where he had been baptized and confirmed. He also served on the church council. In addition to farming, Art owned and operated a mechanic shop and did custom corn shelling and combining.

Art served as a 4-H leader and was on the Sioux County Fair Board for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; three sons, Dwayne of Rock Valley and his special friend, Carol Broughton of Worthing, S.D.,David A. of North Sioux City and John and his wife, Sue, of Douglas, Wyo.; three daughters and their husbands, Mary and Tyrone Holt of Denver, Colo., Sue and Vince Sandbulte of Sioux Center and Julie and Dan Albert of Le Mars, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walt, Clarence and Roy; and three sisters, Alma Hevern, Mabel Haag and Mildred Ricklefs.
