BOYKINS - Howard James Barrett, 82, died died Monday, April 16, 2001 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, NC. A native of Seaboard, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ada Wheeler Barrett and the widower of Madeline Draper Barrett. He was the former president of Barrett-Ford Oils and a member of Boykins United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barrett is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Charles Meakin of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Irma B. Odom of Conway, NC; and two grandchildren, Mathew and Abby Meakin of Greensboro.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boykins United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Davenport. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
