CONWAY — Mrs. Ada Wheeler Barrett, 85, died Thursday morning in her home after a long illness. A native of Northampton County, she was the widow of Joe Barrett and a daughter of the late Noah and Mrs. Ida Wheeler. She was a member of Conway United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Irene B. Allen and Mrs. Mary B. Barnes of Newport News, VA, Mrs. Elsie B. Gay of Seaboard and Mrs. Irma Odom of Conway; two sons, Clyde Barrett of Conway and Howard Barrett of Boykins; a sister, Mrs. Lennie Starr Allen of Durham; six brothers, John Wheeler and Charlie Wheeler of Jackson, Bealie Wheeler of Graham, Robert Wheeler of Emporia, VA, Garland Wheeler of Roanoke Rapids and James Wheeler of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday in Conway United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lewis Dilman. Burial was in Conway Cemetery.
