Pearl E. Rankin, 99, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died Sunday, April 2, 2000 at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.

Born in Morgan County, WV on November 13, 1900, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Harden Fredman.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She retired as a cook from Berkeley Springs High School after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and United Methodist Women and a charter member of the Morgan County Volunteer Rescue Service Auxiliary.

She was also a member of the Retired School Employees Association.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie E. Douglas, Iona R. Barker and Ilean C. Waugh, all of Berkeley Springs; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Rankin in 1944; two daughters, Frances Shade and Winona Rankin; one son, Melvin Rankin; four sisters, Melvie Michael, Virgie Maconaughey, Viola Clark and Ruth Wolford; and one brother, Elmer Fredman.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, today, Wednesday, April 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Volunteer Rescue Service Auxiliary, P.O. Box 272, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
