Richard Cline, 58, of Rural Retreat died Friday, June 19, 2009. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Speedwell United Methodist Church Cemetery. He was born May 18, 1951, in Rural Retreat, son of the late Garland & Nelia Martin Cline. He was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman. He was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist with a love of hunting and fishing. He loved racing, watching and helping his son-in-law and his grandson race. He was preceded in death by six brothers, McKinley Cline, Walter Cline, Donald Cline, Ancil Cline, James Cline and Steve Cline. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Holbrook Cline of the home; two daughters & sons-in-law, Terry & Ryan Brewer of Rural Retreat, Rene & Kerry Earnhardt of Mooresville, NC; six grandchildren, Jett Hagy, Blade Compton, Bobby Earnhardt, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Kayla Earnhardt and Cash Brewer; three brothers & two sisters-in-law, Bill "Poochie" & Linda Cline of Dublin, Martin & Georgie Cline of Wytheville, and Randy Cline of Rural Retreat; four sisters & two brothers-in-law, Virginia Sutphin of Wytheville, Ethel & Tex Willard of Darlington, SC, Helen & Elmer Tickle of Max Meadows, and Libby Caudle of Wytheville; three sisters-in-law, Luella Cline of Rural Retreat, Catherine Cline and Peggy Cline, both of Wytheville; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations be made toward funeral expenses. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
