Laura Belle Griffin was born to William and Mary Griffin on February 18, 1889, at Talahoma, Tenn. She moved to Texas at the age of eight years. She married C.L. Smith in 1905 at Denton, Texas . They moved to Oklahoma to rear their family and had been a resident of Carnegie the past 18 years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1955. Laura Griffin died June 20, 1967.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eula McRee of Fort Worth, Mrs. Marie Tessner of Richmond Hill, N.Y., and Mrs. Faye Ellison of Valinda, Calif.; five sons, E.A. Smith, Carnegie, Ed Smith of Fort Cobb, Chet Smith, Visalia,
Calif., Ray Smith of Cement and Leon Smith of Carnegie; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one half-sister, Mrs. Hattie Strickland of Olustee and three half-brothers, Parman Griffin of Altus, Jim and Lawrence Griffin of Earth, Texas.
