Obituary Notice from the Hillsboro Mirror, Hillsboro, Hill, Texas, December 1, 1937
Mrs. Sarah Catherine McConathy, widow of Bowden McConathy, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maud Griffin, in the James community, at 2:35 o'clock, Sunday morning, November 28, aged 83 years. Funeral services were held at the Peoria Cumberland Presbyterian church at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Revs. F. E. Weller, B. Boiles, Will Gilliland and J. G. Petty. Interment was in Peoria cemetery under the direction of Marshall & Marshall. Active pallbearers were six grandsons, Clarence McConathy, Burl McConathy, Wilson Griffin, Arvel McConathy, Buster McConathy and Dan Griffin. Mrs. McConathy was born in the state of Illinois, August 28, 1854. She came to Texas at the age of 15 years, the family locating near Hillsboro and she had continued to reside in this county since. Mrs. McConathy united with the church 63 years ago and had been a member of the Bethel Methodist church for many years. Surviving are three sons, Oscar of Blum, John of Houston, and Charles of Union Bluff, three daughters, Mrs. Clara Coolbaugh of Stanton, Texas, Mrs. Nora Hicks of Waco and Mrs. Maud Griffin of James community.

Sarah was the daughter of Charles Marcellus and Margaret Winters Booth
She married William Bowden McConathy in 1877.
Sarah and Bowden were blessed with six children: Clara Belle, Charles Benjamin, John Thomas, Nora M., Maude Gertrude, William Oscar.
