April 7, 1897 - Death of C. M. Booth - Charles M. Booth died at his residence on the mountain six miles from here Thursday. He was in his seventy-seventh year.

Mr. Booth was one of the pioneer settlers of Hill county, having settled here 29 years ago. He was born and raised in New York and went from there to Illinois, whence he moved in a few years to Hill county, Texas. He was one of the few remaining veterans of the Mexican War, having served in the war against Mexico.

Mr. Booth was a familiar and respected citizen of this county, ans stood well with all who knew him. He was noted for his integrity and sterling qualities. He was a brother to Col. William L. Booth who died here a few years ago.

He was buried in the City Cemetery here on Friday afternoon.
