Four marriage licenses were issued by Cecil Mullin at the court house this morning inside of a half an hour, and the judge united one of the pair at once. Henry G. Feis, of Bladen, was granted a permit to wed Mrs. Mattie Loudy of this city.

HENRY FEIS DEAD

Henry Feis, who had never fully recovered from a stroke suffered two years ago, became much worse on Sunday and death claimed him about 8:30 P.M. Tuesday. He was 77 years old on August 17.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mattie, one son, Wallace Feis of Kearney, and five daughters, Mrs. Ed Kral of Bladen, Mrs. Hazel Reed of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Mrs. Dorothy Benker of Hastings, Mrs. Melva Gartrol of Pueblo, Colo., and Mrs. Ronald Paymal of Lincoln.

Mr. Feis was beloved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Friends of the family join us in expressions of sympathy. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the Methodist church with Rev. R.E. Martin in charge. Obituary will appear next week.

HENRY GEORGE FEIS

Henry George Feis was born August 17, 1864, in New York City and died at his home in Bladen, Nebraska on August 19, 1941, at the age of 77 years and 2 days.

At an early age he moved with his parents to Rockwell, Wisconsin, later moving to Lancaster County, Nebraska. In 1894 he moved to Webster county (sic) where he has resided ever since.

He was first united in marriage to Miss Doretta Roepke and to this union were born two sons, Artie and Wallace. The elder son and his mother both died in September, 1893 of diphtheria. Wallace resides at Kearney, Nebr.

On December 22, 1897 he married Miss Rose Miller of Campbell, Nebr., and three children were born of this union, Mrs. Lulu Kral of Bladen, Mrs. Hazel Reed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Orville, who died at the age of 15 months, preceding his mother in death by only two days. Again diphtheria had taken its grim toll.

On November 8, 1911, he was married to Miss Mattie Loudy of Bladen. Three daughters and one son were born of this union, Mrs. Dorothy Benker of Ingleside, Nebraska, Mrs. Melva Gartrell of Pueblo, Colorado, and Miss Betty Paymal of Lincoln, Nebr. The son, Darrold Challice, passed away at the age of 12 years.

Mr. Feis was confirmed into the Presbyterian church (sic) at Hickman, Nebraska, transferring his membership to Campbell when he moved there in 1894. He lived his religion each day. He was a most devoted father, a friendly neighbor, a cheerful companion.

On October, 1939, he suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which he never fully recovered, but he never complained of his lot and was a patient sufferer to the last. He saw much sorrow but bore it all with much fortitude. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie, who has done everything possible in the past months to make him comfortable and happy, five daughters, one son and nine grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Fred Feis of Campbell and August Feis of Hastings and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Carl of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Henry Bierhaus of Hastings.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Bladen at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 21 with the Rev. R.E. Martin in charge. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Calvin and Gordon Feis, Leslie Bierhaus, Paul Bartels, Harold Miller and Marvin Feis. Flower girls were Norma Kral, Donna Mae and Bonnie Lynn Reed and Jenelle Feis. A quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. John Worley and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Morey sang with Mrs. Vaughn Lockhart accompaniyng (sic). Mrs. Grace Andresen sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Interment was in the Presbyterian cemetery at Campbell.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral service were: Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Benker Norma Kral, and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Feis of Ingleside; Mr. and Mrs. O. D.
