Mrs. Cosgrove Rites Monday at Richland
Mary Elizabeth Cosgrove of Hurd, N.D., died Saturday at 12:20 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Joe Adams, New Richland, following a two weeks' illness with pneumonia. She was born March 21, 1866 in Waseca county. Her maiden name was Mary E. McGrath, a daughter of Christopher McGrath and Margaret Kirk McGrath. She attended rural schools here and St. Clara Academy in Wisconsin. She taught school for 37 years. Her marriage to Cornelius Cosgrove of Hurd, N.D., took place in May, 1905 at Bottineau, N.D. The couple lived at Hurd, N.D. until Mr. Cosgrove's death.
Mrs. Cosgrove, who was 81 years old, is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Gates, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Winifred Adams, New Richland; and Mrs. Mattie Williamson, San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 from the All Saints Catholic church, New Richland. Rev. Henry Russel of St. Joseph's parish, Waldorf, and St. Mary Catholic church, conducted the services. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, New Richland. Pall bearers were Harold, Francis, and Christopher Adams, Francis Wallace, Leo Gehring, all nephews, and Joseph Collins. People from away who attended the services were Mrs. Maria French, Minneapolis; M. J. Linnihan and Miss Mary Jane Linnihan, Waseca.
