HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for W. J. Craven, 71, will be held from Souls Chapel Methodist Church at Gresham Monday afternoon. The Rev. J. F. Campbell of the Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Mr. Craven, engaged in farming, was born and reared in Marion County. About two months ago he moved to Hartsville to make his home with his daughter. He was a son of the late W. H. and Melvina Richardson Craven, pioneer citizens of Marion County.
He was a steward in the Methodist Church.
Mr. Craven died early Sunday morning after an extended illness.
Surviving are his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Annie Wall, and the following children, Mrs. C. M. Powe of Hartsville, W. B. Craven of Cerro Gordo, NC, and W. H. Craven of Bamberg; two sisters, Mrs. H. U. Vickers and Mrs. Ben Rowell of Chapel Hill, NC; and two brothers, H. H. Craven of Georgetown and B. L. Craven of Florence.
