HARTSVILLE - Mrs. Marie Craven Powe, 78, wife of Carl M. Powe Sr., died Thursday at a Darlington hospital after a short illness.
Born in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late William Julius and Annie Wall Craven. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and a former teacher at Antioch School in Darlington County. Mrs. Powe was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Lt. Col. Carl M. Powe, Jr. USA (ret.), of Huntsville, Ala.; and 2 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
