Grace Counce

BOONEVILLE - Grace Alma Shook Counce, 88, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Booneville to Daniel Luther Shook and Minnie Pearl Barnes Shook. She was a Methodist. She was a homemaker, artist, and cake decorator. She worked at Brown Shoe Company for 10 years, and she and her husband owned and operated The Doughnut Shop in Booneville for many years. She enjoyed flowers and working in her yard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kerry Powell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Lourine Gullett and Anita Hayes, both of Booneville; three sisters, Rev. Irene Armstrong of Zion, Ill., Bernice Smith of Lexington, Tenn., and Marie Keller of Booneville; a brother, Edward Shook (Esther) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Counce, on Dec. 17, 2000; a daughter, Kathleen Roberts; her parents; two brothers, Herbert Shook and Herman Shook; and a sister, Lucille Ricketts.

Pallbearers are Bryson Edge, Brandon King, Trevor King, Kevin Crump, Kevin Keller and Mike Keller.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067, or to a charity of choice.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
