Ora Bernice Smith, 86, the daughter of the late Daniel Luther & Minnie Pearl Barnes Shook was born October 26, 1927 in Booneville, Mississippi and passed away February 24, 2014 in Jackson, Tennessee.
Bernice married on May 26, 1945 to Jule Smith Butler and to this union 5 children were born. Later in Bernice's life she married Clayborn Smith who preceded her in death on April 4, 1992.
She is survived by sons, J.S. Butler Jr. of Erin, Tennessee, & Danny Butler of Jackson, Tennessee; daughters, Dana Hayes of Lexington, Tennessee & Margie Butler of Hernando, Mississippi.; brother, Edward Shook of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sister, Inez Keller, Booneville, Mississippi; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Minnie Pearl Barnes Shook; daughter, Barbara Daniels; brothers, Herbert Shook and Herman Shook; sisters, Irene Armstrong, Grace Counce, and Lucile Ricketts.
Visitation will be on February 25, 2014 from 4-9 P.M., February 26, 2014 from 4-9 P.M., at Reeds Chapel, Lexington, Tennessee and February 27, 2014 from 8 A.M. until time of service at Lexington Church of God, Jackson, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be on February 27, 2014 at 10 A.M. at Lexington Church of God, Lexington, Tennessee.
Burial to follow in Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery in Booneville, Mississippi.
