Fanny Tilden was born in Sandisfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts on August 11, 1769. The name on the birth record is Fawnia. No wonder she wanted to be known as Fanny. She was the daughter of Thomas Turner Tilden and Martha Stillman. She married Benjamin Deming in Sandisfield around 1788 and they had nine children while they lived there. In 1804, they bought some land two miles south of the famous Avon Springs in Livingston County, New York, and moved there. Fanny and Benjamin had four more children in Avon. They built an estate of seven hundred acres. Benjamin died in 1840. Fanny lived until December 30, 1854, when she died in Avon. Both Benjamin and Fanny are buried in the South Avon Cemetery in Livingston County, New York.
