YORKTOWN--Lowell M. Burtner, 80, Yorktown, died Tuesday in Yorktown Health Care Center.
He was born in Westfield, moved to Indianapolis where he graduated from Broad Ripple High School, came to Muncie in 1934 and moved to Yorktown in the 1950s.
Mr. Burtner was a building contractor in the Muncie arrea before his retirement. He previously owned and operated Marion Service in Marion and worked at Indiana General Service (now Indiana Michigan Power).
He was a member of Yorktown United Methodist Church and Methodist Men, and he was on several committees of the church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Willetta N. Edwards Burtner; two brothers, Kenneth Burtner and Harold Burtner; a son-in-law, Ron Groves; a sister-in-law, Rowana Robb; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Burtner Groves, and his parents, Henry and Ethel Overman Burtner.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary, Muncie, with Rev. Marilyn Gebert officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Calling at the mortuary will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and before services Friday.
