Harold G. Burtner, Sr., 81, of Muncie, IN, passed away Friday at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Henry S. and Ethel O. (Overman) Burtner.
He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1946. On Jan. 30, 1948 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Muncie, he married Theresa (Rahe) Burtner. He retired from Borg Warner in 1989 after 42 years of service as a supervisor and inspector.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and pet animals.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Theresa Burtner; two sons, Harold Jr., and Charles; two daughters, Margaret and Barbara; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie. Father Dennis Goth will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
