Ford Charles Edward "Charlie:" Lt, 2nd Co (McGregor's Btry) Stuart's Horse Arty,; b 1843, son of Edward R & Juia F Ford; res, at the Ford House, on Chain Bridge Rd, Fx CH; vtd. for secession at Sangstern's 4/23/61; attnd VMI; enl as Sgt; successfully defended his battery on Pettis Hill 6/9/63 against a charge by the enemy, killing one of the enemy with his revolver; KIA 5/31/64 at Hanover CH, by a "minnie ball;" cited for conspicious gallantry O.R., I 36 1050; his body severant, LINDSAY, wept openly over his young master's body; his personal effect with the news of his death were sent by way of Lindsay to his parents in Fx. CO,; mentioned by Sgt Geo W Shreve, McGregor's Bty, Stuart's Horse Arty., in a letter to the editor, Fx Hrld dated 12/28/1891,: ... we buried him in the edge of a field by the light of a torch, after we had knelt around his open grave in prayer conducted by my brother, Richard, soon afterward his remains were deposited in the beautiful cemetery at Richmond.." FH 1/8/92, p 3 disinterred a few days later by members of his cmnd. & bur in Hollywood Cem., Richomnd, Va., Confed Soldiers Sect X, grave 50; named listed w/ rank of "Major" on Confederate Dead Monument, Fx, Cem; bro of Confederate Spy, Antonia Ford; 1st cousin of Pvt, Johm M Ford, Co C, 43rd Btln. Va Cav & Pvt. Walter Smith Ford. Co D 17th Va Inf.

First cousins would be Pvt John Mortimer Ford
Pvt Walter S Ford. His mother was a Ford as well as father, so not sure which side cousin relationship would be on.
