Joseph Bashaw, for several years a resident of Montgomery county,
passed away at the home of his brother, Leonard Bashaw, in this city last
Saturday forenoon after suffering more than a year with dropsy and paralysis,
being almost entirely helpless for four months previous to his demise. The
funeral was held from the house Sunday afternoon and the body interred in the
Villisca cemetery, Dr. C.J. English being the officiating minister. Mr. Bashaw
was born near Montreal, Canada, Feb. 11, 1835, moved with his parents to
Illinois in 1854, came to this county in 1873, and with the exception of a short
time had lived in Grant and Pilot Grove townships since that date. He was a
member of the M. E. church, a kind old Christian gentleman and possessed a host
of friends. For ten years he made his home with his brother, and his departure
from the family circle is deeply felt.
CAHD OP TEANKS:
We desire to thank all our kind neighbors and friends who so willingly lent
helping hands during the sickness of our brother.
