Henry was born August 2, 1840 in Quebec, Canada. He immigrated with his parents to North Hero, Grand Isle, Vermont, where they appear on the 1850 census. A short time after, their family moved on to Carroll County, Illinois in 1856 Via the Great Lakes.
Henry served in the Civil War and was a prisoner. He married Anna Maria Sisler on December 17, 1868 in Carroll County. He farmed on property in Section 20, Mt. Carroll Township, Carroll County, Illinois. In the 1920 census Henry was living with his son Bart W. Bashaw and family. He died on Feb. 16 1928, in Carroll County, Illinois.
