J. L. Caldwell received word yesterday morning from his sister-in-law, Miss Florence Baker, announcing the death of Miss Bessie Baker of Asheville, N. C. Miss Baker died last Saturday at 9 o’clock after a lingering illness with consumption. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Baker, of Stockwell, and a sister of Mrs. J. Linn Caldwell, of this city. She went to Asheville two years ago this November in the hopes of benefitting her health. Miss Baker was bout 34 years old and had many warm friends in this city who will deeply regret to hear of her death. She was a graduate of the Purdue class of ‘87, and was a brilliant young lady. J. Linn Caldwell went to Cincinnati yesterday to meet the remains. The party reached Stockwell this after noon about 1 o’clock and funeral services will occur at 2 o’clock to-morrow afternoon.
