Mrs Kate (Baker) Caldwell, widow of Judge James Lindsey Caldwell, both formerly prominent in Lafayette, died February 3, at the home of a daughter, Mrs Frederick G Jackson, 255 Locust Street, San Diego, California. Mrs Caldwell was a daughter of Dr Moses Baker, pioneer physician of Stockwell, who performed the first Caesarian section west of the Alleghenies. Her marriage took place in 1884. Judge Caldwell long practiced law in Lafayette with his brother, Albert W Caldwell. James Lindsey Caldwell served as mayor and postmaster of Lafayette and as Prosecutor. He died in 1927, since which time his widow has resided in San Diego. Mrs Jackson was an only child. According to Mrs Caldwell’s wishes, there will be no services in San Diego, later burial services will be held in the family plot at Stockwell.
