The following is written by Lucille Tilton;

Dick Wesley Tilton was born 13 Oct 1914 to Lyle Vernon and Ruth (Goodman) Tilton, in St David AZ. He attended St David schools and worked for the school janitor through his high school years. After high school he worked for a contractor building fences for the ranchers in the area. In the spring of 1936 he went to work in the mines in Bisbee AZ. 23 Oct 1936 he married Lucille Mae Wilson. To them were born 7 children. They lived in Bisbee 5 years then moved back to St David. Dick went to work at Apache Powder Company where he worked until his retirement.
Dick was a man of integrity. He was honest in his word and in his dealings. He believed in giving an honest days work for his days pay. He was a devoted husband and father. He built 5 houses in St David, doing most of the work himself. While in high school he bought a saxaphone and played in the school band. He and 4 others started a dance band and played for local dances until the young people wanted rock and roll music. He then retired his sax and clarinet.
He retired after working 32 years for Apache Powder Co. He had worked hard all his life and did not enjoy retirement. He and his wife served 2 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a devout Christian and student of the Scriptures. He served in many Church callings during his life. After serving on the missions he took a course and became a certified Locksmith. He answered calls day or night to unlock someones house or car because they had lost their keys. He fixed many locks and seldom accepted any pay for his work. In many ways he served his fellow man. He always had a garden. One night after watering the newly planted garden and yard he came into the house and said "I'm so tired I just can't do this anymore". The next morning 19 Mar 2011 he passed away suddenly of a heart attack. His wife of 74 years, 2 of his sons and their wives were at his side.
