Friedrich went by Albert. He had an older brother, Carl (fag # 94432787), who came to the States about 1886 and was in Minnesota for a short time before coming to Ramona, S.D. Carl sponsored Albert & Clara's immigration to the States. Carl gave Albert a plot of farmland in exchange for passage to America and for working on the farmland. This changed when Albert died and the family wasn't able to work the land in order to keep it.

The Schinderling Family Bible was found in the possession of Albert & Clara's daughter, Hertha and Hertha's daughter, Darlene was last in possession of it before her death. Several of the grandchildren have copies and a copy has been uploaded to the rootsweb site for Lake Co, SD. The family bible lists Albert's parents as Carl Schinderling and Friederike Pollin Schinderling and that Albert was born in a town called Gladrow.

Albert & Clara were married in Franzburg, Germany on October 26, 1897. They had twin boys in Stralsund (one of which died)about two or three years before they came across the ocean on the U.S.S. Graf Waldersee. The family departed from Hamburg and arrived at Ellis Island July 1901.
