Mr. Elijah James Shelton
Mr. Elijah James Shelton, Sr., 75, o Luthersville, died July 8, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Shelton was born in Meriwether County to the late William Clifford and Kitty Lee Gross Shelton. He was a welder by trade and a charter member of the Calvary Baptsit Church.
Shelton was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Shelton; a son, Bobby Shelton; two sisters, Mary Merill and Minnie King; and two brothers, Bulford Shelton and William (Bill) Shelton. He is survived by three sons, Elijah James Shelton, Jr., Benjamin Lee Shelton and his wife Debbie, and Donald Wayne Shelton and his wife Dori; a daugher, Patricia (Patty) Bostic, Kathy Boyd and Becky Battles; sisters, Hazel Barber, Alma King and Inez Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Calhoun and Rev. Bryan Calhoun officiating. Remains to lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends today from 5-9 p.m at the Higgins Hihllcrest Chapel Funeral Home.
