Olan W. Alexander, age 75, died Wednesday, October 10, 1990.

Mr. Alexander was born in Collingsworth County. He was raised on a farm near Wellington. He graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1933 and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri.

He married Allois Van Pelt in 1938 at Hollis, Oklahoma.

He had worked for an insurance and abstract company from 1936 to 1938 in Wellington.

He was assistant manager of Wellington Federal land Bank Association from 1938 to 1942 and manager of the Wellington Branch of Memphis Production Credit Association from 1942 to 1951.

He moved to Plainview and worked as assistant manager of Plainview Production Credit Association from 1951 to 1954 and later was promoted to manager.

He moved to Tulia and managed Tulia Savings and Loan from 1964 to 1980.

He resigned from State Federal Savings and Loan in 1986, when he started his own business, Olan Alexander Mortgage Loan Co., retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plainview and a member of the church board. He was a member of the Plainview Rotary Club, Plainview Civic Theater and Community Concert Association, Chamber of Commerce and Plainview Industrial Foundation.

He was trustee of the High Plains Research Foundation, member of Pheasant's Unlimited, Plainview Board of Realtors, member of United Way, and past president of Plainview American Red Cross. He was a former president and area governor of Plainview Toastmaster's Club and a member of the City Council in Tulia for six years. He organized and was the first president of Tulia Industrial Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Allois of Plainview; a daughter, Carole Bell of Plainview; a son, Danny Alexander of San Diego, CA; a brother, Bob Alexander of San Angelo; a sister, Lorena Kesler of Los Angeles, CA and six grandchildren.
