SAN ANGELO — Robert E. Alexander, 89, of San Angelo passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at a local care center.
Robert was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Wellington, Texas, to Oscar and Ruth Alexander. He graduated with the Wellington High School Class of 1934. He married Vera Crumley on July 28, 1940, in Levelland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and was a member of the Southland Baptist Church. Robert retired from GTE after 47 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife of 65 years, and brother Olan Alexander. Survivors include daughter Lisa Ann Bird and husband David of Valrico, Fla.; granddaughter Jordan Bird of Claermont, Fla.; sister Lorena Kesler of Porter Ranch (Northridge), Calif.; nieces Carole Bell and husband Freddy of Plainview, Kathryn Rightmyer and husband Richard of Austin and Cheryl Sue Shattuclo of Lincolnville, Maine; nephew Danny Alexander and wife Jackie of Amarillo; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
