The Wellington Leader February 14, 1974

Mrs. Ruth Alexander, who came to the county in the early years of this century, died in Lubbock Medical Center at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, February 7, at the age of 80. She moved from Wellington to Lubbock in 1952 after living here 47 years.

Mrs. Alexander, the former Ruth Foster, was born at Sunset March 20, 1893, the daughter of Robert and Annie L. Foster. Her parents died while she was small, and in 1905 she came to Wellington as a 12-year-old girl to make her home with relatives.

She was married to O. H. Alexander December 15, 1909. He preceded her in death November 22, 1925.

Mrs. Alexander was a member of First United Methodist Church and retained membership here. Her husband had been a charter member. She was especially active in all its women's activities.

Survivors are two sons: Olan W. Alexander of Tulia and Robert E. Alexander of San Angelo; one daughter, Mrs. Lorene L. Kesler of Northridge, CA; a brother, Emmett Foster of Sunset and a sister, Mrs. T. J. Storey of Rienzi, MS. There are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
