Capt. H.R. Jackson Killed in Airplane Accident In Texas

Captain Hazen Rich Jackson Was Financial Officer at Pecos Flying Training Field When Young Life Suddenly Ended.

Word was received her late Tuesday evening of the death of Finance Officer of the Army Air Force at Pecos, Texas. Very meager information was given out save that he was killed in an airplane accident along with another captain, who was piloting the plane. This report was sent here by his widow, Argenta Hyde Jackson, who was employed as a nurse by the Army at Pecos. The accident occurred Sunday, Dec. 12th at 1 p.m.

The body is being shipped to Salt Lake City for burial. Plans are being made to hold the funeral services Monday noon, Dec 20th in the 18th Ward chapel in Salt Lake.

Capt. Jackson was born May 1, 1906 at Parker, Idaho, the son of Charles William and Luella Clegg Jackson. Later the family moved to Salt Lake City and made their home there. He was married to Argenta Hyde of Mt. Pleasant, Utah July 12,1933 in Chicago. They made their home in Salt Lake City where Capt. Jackson was employed by the Federal Reserve bank at which place he worked for 17 years. Mrs. Jackson, being a registered nurse, also worked at her profession. Mr Jackson took Officers Training and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and called into the Service before we entered the war. He left Salt Lake City Nov. 5, 1941, a month before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was trained near San Francisco and then given active duty a few weeks later at Victorville, California. Last August he was ordered to Pecos, Texas to take charge of the finance Office at that Training Field. He received a commission of First Lieutenant and later he was commissioned Captain. Since that time he has served as Financial Officer of the Pecos Flying Field in Texas.

Capt. Jackson had a pleasing personality and made many friends wherever he was known.

Mrs. Jackson was employed as a nurse at the same place by the Army and was in charge of the field's Medical office.

Capt. Jackson is survived by his widow, his father, Charles William Jackson and a brother Vernon Jackson of Salt Lake City, also a brother, Dr.Floyd Jackson, serving in the Army overseas; and a sister Dora Jackson, who is employed by the Federal Reserve Bank at San Francisco.

Mrs. Jackson is the daughter of Mrs. Burke McArthur, of Mt Pleasant.

Survived by brothers Floyd C. Jackson, Dr. H. Myrthan Jackson, serving in the Army overseas.
