Mary Cheney
Mary Cheney, 101, Watertown, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at her residence.
She was the widow of Walter Cheney.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 22 in the Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. James Bream officiating.
Music will be provided by the Immaculate Conception Church Choir accompanied by Sister Aurelia Palm.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Jim Dugan, Tim Raml, Jack Gebhart, Francis Flemming, Greg Endres and Dr. Greg Larson.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church.
Visitation will continue Monday prior to services.
She was born Feb. 5, 1903, the daughter of John and Minnie Louise (Elfring) Betz in St. Helena, Neb.
She grew up in St. Helena where she attended Catholic school.
She married Walter T. Cheney on Feb. 16, 1924, in the Immaculate Conception Church.
She was a waitresx and enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She also enjoyed tatting, gardening, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Kranz of Crestwood, Ill., and Sister Valerie Cheney of Yankton; two sons, Walter and his wife Dotha Cheney of Wood, Calif., and Carl and his wife Earlene Cheney of Santa Rosa, Calif.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
