MRS. MINNIE BETZ

Minnie Louise Elfring was born December 17, 1881 in Metropolis, Ill., and passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, on Sunday, February 4, (1945) at 10:15 p.m.

As a young girl she moved to Watertown, S. Dak., with her parents, and there she received her education and made her home until the time of her marriage. She was married August 9, 1898 to John J. Betz, moving with him to St. Helena, Nebr., where she lived continuously until shortly before her death.

Eleven children, seven daughters and four sons, were born. Mr. Betz passed away on July 10, 1930 following an automobile accident. Three sons and one daughter also preceded their mother in death.

Surviving are one son, Fred A. Betz and six daughters, Mrs. Walter Cheney, Watertown; Mrs. Henry Schmidt, St. Helena, Nebr.; Mrs. John Crotty, Norfolk, Nebr.; Mrs. John Linsley, Sioux City, Ia.; Mrs. Frank Nickles, Yankton; and Mrs. Donald Aspen, Sioux City. There are also four brothers, John and Joe Elfring of Watertown, William of Fort Peck, Montana, and Charles of Medford, Oregon. Along with these are 17 grandchildren, three of whom are in the navy and two in the army.

Mrs. Betz was a member of Immaculate Conception church in St. Helena, with the Rev. Fr. Bernauer officiating. Internment was in the Catholic cemetery under the direction of the Kabeiseman-Donohoe Funeral Home, Yankton.

Pallbearers were Ed Wuebben, Wm. Wuebben, Ben Wiesler, John Wiesler, Frank Fiener and John Schnider, all of St. Helena.

MRS. MINNIE BETZ IS BURIED AT ST. HELENA
Funeral Services Are Held at Catholic Church Last Thursday

ST. HELENA --- Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic church here last Thursday morning for Mrs. Minnie L. Betz, 63, who died in Sacred Heart hospital at Yankton February 4 of cancer. She had been ill about six weeks.

Rev. Joseph Bernauer officiated at the requiem mass and burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John and Bernard Wieseler, Ed and William Wuebben, John Schnieder and Frank Feiner.

Mrs. Betz is survived by six daugthers, Mrs. Walter Chaney of Watertown, S. D., Mrs. Henry T. Schmidt of St. Helena, Mrs. John Crotty of Norfolk, Mrs. John Linsley and Mrs. Don Aspen of Sioux City, and Mrs. Frank Nickles of Yankton; one son, Fred Betz of Sioux City, and four brothers, John, Joe and Charles Elfring of Watertown, S. D., and William of Montana. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren.

Minnie Elfring was born in Peoria, Ill., December 17, 1881, She was married to John Betz at Watertown, S. D., August 9, 1899. Mr. Betz died July 8, 1930.

Among out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the services were Joseph Elfring, George and Fred Wolcott and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chaney and family of Watertown, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nickles of Yankton.
