George was born in Lagrange County In. He married Nancy Weaver on 22 Sept 1888. They had 8 sons and 3 daughters, all born in Lagrange County IN:

Children not listed
Samuel (1907-1908)
George spent his entire life in Lagrange County IN with the exception of one year. When he was about 12, his family, grandparents and a young Uncle Samuel Miller moved via covered wagon to Missouri. The trip took 27 days. It has been told that during this trip, George wandered away from the wagon one night while walking in his sleep. Imagine the panic of the family in the morning when they awoke and found George missing! He was found in the very tall prairie grass that surrounded the wagon and the group continued on their way west; however, George was tied to the wagon wheel at bedtime for the remainder of the trip. The entire group, except for Samuel, returned to Indiana in 1875 after a horrendous winter following, "the grasshopper year" of 1874 in Missouri. They had buried grandfather, Joseph D. Miller in February 1875 and decided not to remain in Missouri.
