Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, November 6, for Matt Sublett, 82, who passed away on Monday, November 4 in a local nursing home after an illness of two months.

Claude Preston and C. C. Hall officiated at the services held at the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Sublett Cemetery at Paintsville. The Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born in Johnson County on September 9, 1886, he was the son of the late Allen T. and Rhuemma VanHoose Sublett. A retired carpenter contractor he had resided on South side all his life. His wife, the former Malina VanHoose, preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Raymond Sublett of Paintsville; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Additional survivors include three brothers, Frank and Brookie Sublett of Paintsville and Monroe Sublett of Akron, OH; and four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Horn, Mrs. Ransom Daniel, Mrs. Ralph Williams, and Mrs. Heber Ward, all of Paintsville.
