"Bertha Lou Liechti, 87, Wathena, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Bertha was born on April 25, 1922, in McCloud, OK to S. Albert and Martha (Shipley) Bird.
She was of the Baptist Faith. Bertha was a homemaker and a fantastic cook. She also loved to crochet, quilt, and sew. Bertha loved singing and playing music; she played many different instruments.
Bertha married Forrest L. Liechti on September 26, 1941, in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1998."
Note:
I knew Bertha personally and she stated that she was born in McCloud, Pott, OK and that the Bird side of her family, which is Native American, has no written history, but her Shipley side has been traced back to the early Vikings. This site does not show A Pott County, nor a town named McCloud...Kari~
To the union of Forest and Bertha Bird-Liechti were born 8 children: Charles, Mary Lou, Connie , James, David, Thomas, Catherine, Paula.
