Mr. Bird, 54, Route 6, died Thursday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan.
Born near Gower, Mo., he was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the Lake Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and had retired in March after 17 years with the Snorkel Co.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bird of the home; three sons, Gary Bird of St Joseph, Larry Bird of Nebraska City, Neb., and Jeffrey Bird of the home; two grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Bird of Easton, Mo.; and four sisters, Jewell Mattucks and Pearl McClellan, both of St Joseph, and Alice Wells and Bertha Lou Leichti, both of Roswell, N.M."
